The landscape for research quality professionals is\u00a0dramatically changing. Therefore\u00a0Oakland Consulting is writing a series of six articles for the Research Quality Association (RQA, http:\/\/www.therqa.com<\/span><\/a>). The RQA is the professional membership body providing status and visibility for individuals engaged in the quality of research concerning pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, chemicals and medical devices. These industry sectors face continuous regulatory changes, the growing impact of regulatory inspection and the ever-changing structure and needs of industry. \u00a0As a result, increasing the focus on research quality is essential.<\/p>\n

Six articles for Research Quality professionals<\/h3>\n

The articles will outline what the research quality profession must be thinking about and doing to meet the changing needs.<\/p>\n

In outline, the six articles will cover:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Responding to change by \u2018redefining quality\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2022 Why the answer is not ever more\u00a0 dogmatic use of philosophies or tools<\/p>\n

\u2022 How quality professionals must better align with the interests (and language)\u00a0 of the \u2018board\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2022 Building quality into the\u00a0 fabric of the business\/organisation\u00a0 and its people<\/p>\n

\u2022 Making a real difference to the business\/organisation \u2013 delivering\u00a0 meaningful change<\/p>\n

\u2022 Final reflections \u2013 quality: a profession with a great future.<\/p>\n

Redefining Quality<\/h3>\n

The first article, available to download, \u00a0sets the scene by considering the challenges and sharing a thinking frame for \u2018redefining quality\u2019. \u00a0First of all, it explains why and how the best of our profession are already changing the way they operate. \u00a0We describe how the role of the quality profession should add value to the organisation and should make quality an inseparable aspect of every employee\u2019s performance and responsibility.\u00a0 With a focus on process rather than functional activities, the article sets out key concerns for quality directors and managers. Most of all, it suggests how to realise a vision of quality as a strategic business management function that will help organisations change their cultures and redefine quality in this century.<\/p>\n
